2022 Application Information

How to Apply for A House

Families are selected through an application process, then Habitat builds the home and sells it to the family at cost. The family pays for the home with a 0% interest mortgage. Monthly mortgage payments do not exceed 30% of the gross income.

The 2022 Open Application Period begins Saturday, November 12, following the Application Seminar and continues through Thursday, December 15th at Noon .

Applications will be available for download Monday, November 14.

A video of explaining all program requirements will be available to watch in both English and Spanish on Tuesday, November 14. It will also available to print by request.

Applications must be submitted by Appointment Only by calling 501-623-5600.

Applicants must be residents of Garland County and meet income requirements.

Homeowner Application Tips

Credit Score
Applicants should have a credit score of at least 500. (Habitat processes the credit reports.)

Verification of Income*
Proof of Income should include check stubs, child support &/or alimony court papers, Social Security benefits, SNAP benefits, etc.

Tax Returns*
Application will need a copy of their 2022 Federal (click here to request) and State (click here to request) tax returns.
Applicants who have not filed federal taxes must file a 4506-T form to request a verification of nonfiling letter (click here to download).

Lease Agreement*
Application will need a copy of your current lease agreement and/or a letter from your landlord.

Copies of Bills*
Applicant will need to provide a copy of their most recent bills: utility bills, car note, cell phone bill, credit card bills, student loans, childcare costs, etc.

Reference Letters*
Reference letters are not required, but helpful during the application process.
